All tool joint blanks arriving in our premises have been bored, machined and heat treated by the producer. A hardness test and a MPI test have been performed before shipment on 100%. Nevertheless, an additional 10% at random are checked for dimensions and are re-tested with a portable Rockwell hardness tester, and the readings individually recorded.
Before machining, each tool joint blank is stamped with an individual number that will allow easy identification throughout the production. Additionally, one tool joint per heat is cut for complete mechanical testing, that has to match the suppliers MTC.
After threading, Standoff, Lead, Taper and Thread height are controlled and recorded 100%, by means of API duly calibrated gauges.
Additionally, all hard-banded tool-joints are inspected 100% with MPI for longitudinal and transversal defects.
