Mother pipes have been properly checked at receipt from the pipe manufacturer, and duly identified for traceability. Before the welding process can start, the extremity of the upset has to be refaced by machining, in order to guarantee a perfect alignment with the face of the tool joint. If both annular surfaces are not perfectly parallel, the resulting well will be rejected at a next stage. |
