In an effort to be closer to its clients, VAM Drilling, subsidiary of the VALLOUREC group, has acquired DPAL from Soconord Since October 01, 2009. To know more about VAM Drilling, please go to www.vamdrilling.com and don’t forget to update your favorites in your browser.

Drill pipe tubes (mother pipes)

Tubes: DPAL sources the best quality mother pipes from reputable pipe manufacturers, and submits them to third party inspection to ensure they meet the technical, metallurgical , mechanical and dimensional requirements.

Grade:
DPAL offers all API pipe grades: E-75, X-95, G-105 and S-135. DPAL also supplies, upon request, drill pipes that meet the “leak before break” criteria (Fearnley Procter NS-1 Quality and Inspection requirement for new manufacture of drilling and well completion equipment) and sour service tubular requirements.

Inspection: Inspection of the mother pipe consists of magnetic particle end inspection, full length longitudinal and transverse defect control, grade and wall thickness verification.
DPAL supplies API and non API wall thickness tolerances.

Range: DPAL offers as standard range 2 drill pipes (27 to 30 ft upset to grade tubes without tool joints on)

Remaining wall tolerance: DPAL offers wall tolerance from API up to 95% remaining wall. The 95 % wall tolerance is recommended specially when the pipes are used in corrosive environment.

Upset: The forging of the internal and/or external upset is an important feature for the life of the drill pipe:
When the tool joints have been made up at the running torque, the 2 tool joints are very stiff compared to the tube that is very flexible. The transition between the tube and the tool joint has to be very smooth to avoid premature failure on fatigue inside the upset or in the slip area.

Our processors are instructed to make sure the internal transition (Miu) meets or exceeds 4" (API 3"), including 8" minimum radius.
