Inspection

Inspection of the mother pipe consists of magnetic particle end inspection, full length longitudinal and transverse defect, grade and wall thickness verification.

  • Inspection at the weld is done with fully automatic UT and MPI inspection unit.
  • Hardness test is carried out on heat affected zone (HAZ).
  • Tensile, hardness, impact, destructive and side bend tests of the weld are done as standard at a rate of 1 test every 150 welds exceeding API specifications.
  • Testing procedures meet Fearnley Procter NS-1™ Quality and Inspection requirements for new manufacture of drilling and well completion equipment and NS-2™ section 5 “Receipt Inspection for New Drill Pipe”.
  • Microexamination of weld zone is verified during destructive test.
