Cold Rolling of the Thread Cold rolling is done after machining of the thread (for NC38 and above). The cold rolling consists of applying a pressure on a wheel profiled to the shape of the root of the thread. The result is a harder surface that prevents crack initiations in the root of the threads. This feature is also as per NS-1requirement and is recommended when fatigue is a concern. |
